How to block Skype from logging in to Outlook or Webmail

1. How to disable Skype by editing the Hosts file


Remember that the Hosts file in all operating systems is a small file through which the operating system assigns the names of the host or host in IP addresses.

In this file we can carry out various tasks such as redirecting local networks, enabling access to restricted websites or blocking access to other websites.

This file is in the following path and for editing we must edit the file with administrative permissions.

2. How to disable Skype using the Ublock Origin extension


In this case we will use Google Chrome and this extension allows the blocking of unwanted ads and applications in the browser allowing us to better manage privacy when browsing. In the same way Ublock allows us to block domains to prevent access to them.

In addition, Ublock consumes few machine resources which does not affect its stability.

Click on Skype and see that it is marked with red indicating its blocking. We will see a lock icon at the top, we will click on it for the changes to be applied.

3. How to disable Skype using Avast

Step 1
One of the most used browsers today gives us the option to block Skype at the start of Outlook. If we do not have Avast we can download it in the following link:

We access Avast and we will see the following window where we will click on the Options line located at the bottom:

In the displayed window we will select the Components line and click on Customize from the Web shield field:
