How to delete user log files (LOGS) on Mac

{title}

Every time we execute some kind of process or task in macOS Sierra, we create in the background a record of that activity. Simultaneously, the operating system has a control mechanism that keeps a complete record of the constant monitoring of macOS Sierra applications, programs or services.

This is useful when we must carry out administrative, audit or support management tasks on a given team, since these records contain information about failures, security events or alterations made in the system.

Although the revision of this type of files is designed with an administrative approach, it is interesting that we delete these files so that they do not occupy an unnecessary space in the system, since their elimination will not affect any macOS Sierra service or process.

Once deleted we must go to the recycle bin and select the Empty trash option to permanently delete these records. Although this is not a frequent task, it is useful when we want to perform support tasks on the operating system.

2. Content of an application record

To verify that it really contains a record or log, we can double click on it to be opened in a text editor and we can verify that it is nothing more than a series of events, such as errors, accesses, news, that occur in a given application:

Although this process is not used to optimize or improve the performance of macOS Sierra, it is used to help with part of an organization's team management administrative process.
