Most of us have stored a large number of photos that have captured various stages of our lives or moments that have been very special. Images that surely after we want to edit and perhaps place on social networks.

At the moment that we capture a photo, either with our smartphones or with our cameras, we are not only capturing what the focus takes, behind this we are saving extra information such as camera or phone model, coordinates on which said camera was taken photo, time and date, exhibition, etc.
EXIF (Exchangeable Image File Format) is the set of data that describes an image or photograph and is synonymous with metadata. When we take a picture from a digital camera, this information is stored even if it is not at a glance.
All these additional values are known as metadata and thanks to this information is that the photo applications provide us with detailed information of each photograph.
Although today GPS systems are very consistent with new phones and cameras, sometimes the information stored by the metadata is not consistent with the reality of the image and that is where we will see how we can update this information in a simple and correct way in Windows 10.
1. How to edit or add metadata for an image or photo in Windows 10
Step 1
To see the metadata information of an image and its respective edition, we will right click on the image and select the Properties option .

In the displayed window we go to the Details tab to access the metadata information of the image.

Description
There we can see information such as comments on the image rating, title, etc.
Origin
We see date, time and author of the image .
Image
In this field we see all the information to the details of the image such as dimensions, compression, depth, etc.
Camera
In this field we find information about the device that took the image such as Manufacturer, Model, Flash distance, etc.
Advanced Photography
From this option we see details of the shot such as contrast, brightness, saturation, etc.
GPS
Indicates the coordinates where the image was taken.
Step 4
To edit the image, some fields are editable by double clicking on them, for example, in the Description and Origin field.
Step 5
Now, not all fields on the Properties tab can be editable in the same way, we can only edit the following:
- All lines in the Description field .
- All lines in the Origin field .
- From the Camera field we can edit the values Camera manufacturer, camera model, speed. ISO, measurement mode and flash mode.
- From the field Advanced photography we can edit all except digital zoom and brightness .
- The other fields are not editable.
- Once we have made the necessary changes press the Apply button to save the changes.
2. How to delete metadata from an image or photo from Windows 10
All the information provided by the metadata is important to know in detail all aspects of our photos but at the same time it can be an element prone to security errors for certain people and in certain situations. As we have verified some elements it is not possible to edit them to modify their original value, in this case the solution offered by Windows 10 is to partially remove information from the metadata in the image.
Step 1
For this we will click on the bottom line Remove properties and personal information (highlighted in blue)

Create a copy with all possible properties removed
This option allows us to save a copy of the image by automatically removing the properties defined by the system.
Remove the following properties from this file
Using this option we can define what properties have to be deleted from the selected image, just activate the respective boxes.

EXIF Purge is a fairly simple software but with good efficiency that perfectly meets the deletion of metados despite being a portable file. It is a free program and compatible with Windows and Mac systems that you can download from the following link.

Once our portable file has been downloaded, we will only have to click on Select Images to load the images to which we want to delete the EXIF information. Also select the output folder.
